President Ramchandra Paudel announced that the global interest in Sanskrit is growing, with universities worldwide now teaching its language and literature.

>Speaking at the event, President Ram Chandra Paudel emphasized that the popularity of Sanskrit is growing not just in Nepal and India, but across the globe. He noted that the increasing number of universities worldwide offering courses in Sanskrit language and literature is a testament to its rising global significance.

Describing Sanskrit as “Amrit Bhasha”—the language of immortality—the President stated that it carries timeless messages that continue to captivate humanity. "Sanskrit language and literature are vast repositories of knowledge and science," he said, stressing the need for their continued promotion and preservation.

Citing scholars and researchers, the President noted that important scriptures such as the Shukla Yajurveda were composed in Nepal. He proudly highlighted Nepal’s legacy as a sacred land where sages like Vedavyasa, Valmiki, and Vishwamitra meditated and pursued profound wisdom.

President Paudel also recalled the historic Jayatu Sanskritam Movement, initiated by Sanskrit students in Kathmandu. The movement, launched during the autocratic Rana regime in 2004 B.S., played a vital role in challenging oppression and igniting the flame of democracy in Nepal. “It was this movement that sounded the clarion call for freedom and planted the seeds of democracy,” he affirmed.

Urging the public to embrace Sanskrit ideals, the President called for the practice of universal values embedded in phrases like “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family), “Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu” (may all beings be happy), and “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” (may everyone be prosperous and content).

He also praised the Jayatu Sanskritam organization for its efforts in publishing Sanskrit texts, honoring scholars, and sustaining the essence of the movement. He emphasized that the preservation and promotion of all languages require mutual respect, cooperation, and coordination among diverse linguistic communities.

On the occasion, the President presented the Jayatu Sanskritam Award to former Nepal Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Purna Chandra Dhungel and Professor Neelmani Dhungana.

In addition, he honored Prof. Dr. Rishiram Pokharel, Prof. Dirgharaj Ghimire, Prof. Dr. Ram Chandra Gautam, Prof. Govinda Chaudhary, and Prof. Chetanath Acharya for their contributions to Sanskrit education and scholarship.

Jayatu Sanskritam Chairperson Dr. Badri Pokharel also addressed the gathering, sharing details of the organization's ongoing initiatives to promote Sanskrit language and literature
